Microsoft’s new Edge Chromium browser

Microsoft is officially launching its new Edge Chromium browser today across both Windows and macOS. A stable version of the browser is now available for everyone to download, just over a year after the software maker revealed its plans to switch to Chromium.

Microsoft is initially targeting Edge at enterprise users of Windows and macOS, but consumers will be able to manually download and install it, too.

Edge has more privacy settings than Chrome, and it's much easier to track them down. For example, Edge can block trackers from sites you've visited and those you haven't. It can also reduce the odds of your personalized information being shared across sites

Microsoft Edge puts the web to work for you

Control how you are tracked on the web
Trackers are used on websites to collect data about your browsing behavior. They collect data about how you interact with a site, and other interesting info about your browsing. Microsoft Edge is designed to detect and block trackers. We put you in control to decide what trackers to block.

Keep your browsing and searching private
When you use InPrivate tabs or windows, your browsing and search data (like your history, temporary internet files, and cookies) aren’t saved on your device once you’re done. We respect your decision to browse and search InPrivate and will not tie your data to your Microsoft account.

Designed to help you stay safe from malicious sites and downloads
Microsoft Edge comes with Microsoft Defender SmartScreen built-in. We protect you against phishing or malware websites, and from downloading potentially malicious files. Microsoft Defender SmartScreen is turned on by default in Microsoft Edge.

Works wherever you do
Microsoft Edge is now available on all your devices running Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, macOS, iOS, and Android, so you never miss a beat.

Go anywhere, do anything
Your passwords, history, favorites and settings seamlessly roam across all your devices. Microsoft Edge is now available on Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, macOS, iOS, and Android.

Customize with extensions
Personalize your browsing experience by downloading your favorite extensions from the Microsoft Edge Addons store or 3rd party Chromium extension stores, like the Chrome Web Store.

Get the best browser for high definition media on Windows 10 with unique support for streaming Netflix in 4K Ultra, Dolby Audio and Dolby Vision.1
